Der rechte Turm des Xantener Doms lugt zwischen den Mauerresten der alten Bischofsburg hindurch. Leider ist von der alten trutzigen Burg nichts mehr erhalten geblieben, nur die alten Ziegelmauern am sogenannten Ziegelhof - ein Bereich der ehemaligen Vorburg - erzählen von vergangenen Zeiten.
Dennoch kann man sich ein Bild von der Burg machen. Im Dom gibt es nämlich auf einem Seitenflügel des Hochaltars - allerdings ziemlich verborgen vor den Augen der Besucher - ein Gemälde von Bartholomäus Bruyn dem Älteren, das eine Stadtansicht samt der Burg aus dem Mittelalter zeigt.

The right tower of Xanten Cathedral looks through the remains of the walls of the old bishop's castle. Unfortunately nothing remains of the old massive castle, only the old brick walls at the so-called Ziegelhof - an area of the former outer castle - tell of times gone by.
Nevertheless, one can get a picture of the castle. In the cathedral there is a painting by Bartholomew Bruyn the Elder on a side wing of the high altar - though quite hidden from the eyes of the visitors - which shows a view of the city and the castle from the Middle Ages.
